Ignorance – by Devious (Mario van Rooy / born 1977 - died 2004)
Ek stiek uit soes ʼn cameleon
Ek is trouble – en ek lyk om te sien hoe onskuldige mense struggle
Nou net as djy check djy’t my uitgefigure sê ek :- haaties!
En daai sie allie - ek is ʼn tool van oppression -
en rape!
Pons aan my fingerprints – Ek is Ignorance
Next, the music video Life's no Metaphor, is by the talented Cape Flats artist "BlaqPearl" . It is about the difficulties of growing up on the Flats and the need to survive.... a metaphor can represent meaning in another person mind but cannot be a substitute for real life and experience.
(BlaqPearl is: Janine van Rooy - sister of Mario van Rooy who wrote the poem above) ...video producer: the Real Rozanno
7 Seconds:
Boul ma sene, boul ma guiss madi re nga fokni mane
Khamouma li neka thi sama souf ak thi guinaw
Beugouma kouma khol oaldine yaw li neka si yaw
mo ne si man, li ne si mane moye dilene diapale
Roughneck and rudeness,
We should be using, on the ones who practice wicked charms
For the sword and the stone
Bad to the bone
Battle is not over
Even when it's won
And when a child is born into this world
It has no concept
Of the tone the skin is living in
It's not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting
It's not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting
Changer
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting
It's not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting
And when a child is born into this world
It has no concept
Of the tone the skin is living in
And there's a million voices
And there's a million voices
To tell you what she should be thinking
So you better sober up for just a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting
It's not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting
It's not a second
7 seconds away
Rough Translation:
Don't see me from a distance
Don't look at my smile
And think that I don't know
What's under and behind me
I don't want you to look at me and think
What's in you is me
What's in me is to help them
I assume the reasons that push us to change everything
I would like us to forget about their color
So they can be optimistic
Too many views on rave that make them desperate
Let's leave the doors wide open
So they can talk about the pain and joy
Then we can give them information
That will bring us all together
Chorus:
It's not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting
Roughneck and rudeness, We should be using
on the ones who practice wicked charms
For the sword and the stone
Bad to the bone
The battle's not over Even when it's won
And when a child is born into this world
It has no concept
Of the tone the skin is living in
And there's a
Chorus
There's a million voices
There's a million voices
To tell you what she should be thinking
So you better sober up for a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting
It's not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I'll be waiting
It's not a second
